Victoria Parents Association

WHAT IS THE VPA?
The Victoria Parents Association is a formal organisation comprisingof parents, teachers and staff that is intended to facilitate parental participation in a school. Associations such as the VPA are best known for their fundraising work, but they have a useful social function too.  Fundraising events provide an opportunity for parents, staff and pupils to get together and have some fun.
WHY HAVE A VPA?
The VPA is a most valued group of dedicated parents who organise fund raising and family gatherings throughout the academic year. Together through these social events the VPA raises money to purchase luxury items and equipment that are essential to enhancing the learning of our children and our educational environment. In recent years the VPA has hosted the popular annual school fete, international buffets, and many more fund raising events.  We aim to sustain parental involvement and participation in school activities.
HOW IS THE MONEY DISTRIBUTED?
All money raised by the VPA is kept in an account separate from the school. The school will ask all departments to make bids for items that are not within the school"s budget that they would like to purchase for the education and learning of your child, . This is done through a ‘wish list’. The VPA committee reviews the wish list and allocates funds appropriately. Last year the VPA raised funds to cover all items requested.

CAN I BE PART OF THE VPA?
Parents are invited to join the VPA to help support the learning of our children. At the beginning of the year the Head Teacher, along with the Chair of the Committee will write to parents to ask for their support. If you miss this opportunity, you can always contact our Receptionist who will put you in touch with the VPA members.
There are many different ways you can help with the VPA, whether you have lots of time to offer or not. Some of the roles are time-consuming, although rewarding. If you can’t commit to a big job, look out for things you can do less frequently (eg running a stall at the Victorian fete, baking for a cake sale). You can always support VPA events by simply just turning up. Your help at these events is very much appreciated. It is also a great way to be involved with the school and meet new people.
If you are a working parent who is unable to attend regular meetings but would like to help, perhaps you can assist by helping the VPA find sponsors for events through your own personal or business contacts. Should you be able to help in this way please send an email to VPA@ves.ae
